A 21-year-old Willmar woman was sentenced Thursday to 15 months in prison, which was stayed, 150 days in jail, a $1,000 fine and five years of probation on a third-degree assault charge for striking a woman in the face with a stiletto-heel shoe and causing serious damage to her eye.
The West Central Tribune reports Andrea Lee Diaz was also ordered to submit to psychological testing and treatment and pay over $22,000, the victim’s medical bills, as part of her sentence handed down in Kandiyohi County District Court.
As part of a plea agreement in Kandiyohi County District Court, a misdemeanor fifth-degree assault charge was dismissed.
The charges were filed after Willmar police officers were called around 1 a.m. May 8th to Rice Memorial Hospital. Two women were being treated there after suffering injuries during an incident at the Caribbean Club.
One of the women was referred to an eye specialist in St. Cloud, who determined she has nerve damage, multiple fractures to her eye socket and extensive damage to her eye.
