U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar participated in the annual Minnesota Cooks event at the State Fair as a Guest Taster. The Minnesota Cooks program features chefs from throughout Minnesota demonstrating their talents and interacting with emcees who interview the Minnesota farmers who produced the food, as well as local guest tasters.
“Whether it’s raising the livestock, growing the crops or preparing the food, these Minnesotans are doing something with real and measurable benefits for the country,” Klobuchar said. “This event is a great opportunity to highlight our local famers and chefs, and a great opportunity for me to sample delicious Minnesota-made food.”
Klobuchar tasted food prepared by chefs from restaurants Terra Waconia and Zellas. Terra Waconia is a restaurant in Waconia, MN that creates a new menu each day based on ingredients purchased from small growers. Zellas is a restaurant in Hutchinson, MN that commits to local and organic ingredients. The food was produced by Loon Organics and Eli Brink Farm.
Minnesota Cooks is hosted by the Minnesota Farmers Union, Minnesota Department of Agriculture and Agricultural Utilization Research Institute.
