Two men are safe after escaping from a sinking car early Saturday morning.

Stearns County authorities say 29-year-old Benjamin Lortz of St. Cloud and 19-year-old Cody Erickson of Kimball were able to get out of their car after Lortz lost control of the car and crashed into a holding pond at about 1:30am Saturday.

Erickson had minor scratches. The car eventually sank.
