Three local coaches have been elected to the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Former Kimball coach Howard Bahn, former Hector coach Perry Doney and former GSL coach Don Tangen were recently announced as 2011 inductees. Bahn won 5 conference titles, 1 district title, and was named coach of the year twice. Bahn had a career record of 388 wins and 231 losses. Doney is a Hector native that made his mark in western Minnesota coaching for Wood Lake for 17 years. Doney did coach his hometown team for 3 years in the late 1960’s, leading them to a district championship. Tangen coached the Panthers for 34 seasons, amassing about 500 wins. Tangen’s teams won 2 conference titles and 7 section titles. Induction ceremonies for the trio will be held at the MBCA Hall of Fame Banquet on Sunday, October 30th, 12:00 p.m., at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Minneapolis.
