Hikers Released 21 Sep 11

The two American hikers held in Iran on spying charges have now been handed over to Swiss diplomats. Reports indicate Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal will avoid having to serve the rest of an eight year prison sentence after being convicted of spying by Iranian authorities last month. The two were released today (Wednesday) after a $1-million bail-for-release deal was approved by the courts. They were arrested along the Iran-Iraq border in July of 2009 and accused of being spies, which they deny.
