The Lynx won the season series from the Mercury for the first time since 2004, defeating them three times and losing twice. The series will pit two of the WNBA’s top three scoring teams against one another (Pho, 1 – 89.0 ppg; MN, 3 – 81.5 ppg). Minnesota averaged 95.4 ppg while shooting 50.1% from the floor against Phoenix this season. Seimone Augustus paced Minnesota’s offensive efforts, averaging 21.7 ppg on 60.8% shooting in the five matchups. Only one of the five games was decided by eight points or less, and the 112-105 Phoenix win on July 13 was the highest scoring regular-season game in WNBA history.

Minnesota and Phoenix have never met in the postseason.
