Fatal Motorcycle Crash 30 Sep 11

A Sauk Rapids woman was killed Wednesday when the motorcycle she was on collided with a deer.

47-year-old Laura Ann Tenvoorde-Behrend died at the scene of the crash at Stearns County Road 155, south of 355th Street in Avon Township.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says she was passenger on a motorcycle that was traveling north on County Road 155 when it struck a deer just before 8pm.

The motorcycle was driven by 49-year-old David John Behrend of Sauk Rapids. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Neither was wearing a helmet.

    Were they wearing sandals? Were they were blue shirts? Because it is not the law that they have to wear either of those things or that they have to wear helmets. When someone dies in a car accident to you say they were not wearing a helmet?

    Deer are darting out everywhere. We need to be aware. I know David, he used to babysit for my son. He is a good person, and my heart goes out to him for the loss of his precious wife. I am praying for the family.
