Lynx Complete Series Sweep, take title 08 Oct 11

With their win Friday over the Atlanta Dream in Game 3 of the 2011 WNBA Finals presented by Boost Mobile, the Minnesota Lynx completed the series sweep to capture the franchise’s first-ever WNBA Championship and Minnesota’s first professional sports championship since the 1991 Minnesota Twins. The Lynx defeated the Atlanta Dream 73-67 tonight behind a balanced team effort featuring six different players with seven or more points. After the game, Seimone Augustus was named the 2011 WNBA Finals MVP, averaging 24.7 points per game during the three-game series.


Fans are invited to welcome home the Lynx players and coaching staff at the baggage claim area of Terminal 1, Saturday, October 8. The Lynx will travel to Minneapolis from Atlanta on Delta Flight #744, which is scheduled to land in Minneapolis at 4:30 p.m. CDT.

A Tuesday, October 11 parade down Nicollet Mall will commence at 11:30 a.m., followed by a rally at Target Center at 12:15pm. Further information on the downtown festivities celebrating the Lynx’ Championship run will be announced this weekend.
