All restrictions on open burning in Minnesota have been lifted.
McLeod County, in conjunction with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources – Forestry Division, has lifted burning restrictions also.
McLeod County officials say it is important to remember that burning permits are still required for most burning. The permits can be picked up from your local township officials or fire wardens.
Before you burn, county officials ask that you call the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office so they know that the fire would be a controlled burn and would not have to page out the fire departments. They also ask that you please call when you are finished burning so that your address can be taken off of the burning list.
