Frazier: Adrian Peterson has “a little bit of ligament damage” 22 Nov 11

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has a Grade 1 high ankle sprain that indicates “a little bit of ligament damage” coach Leslie Frazier said.

Peterson, who signed a seven-year, $100 million deal last month, was injured in the first quarter when he said his left foot stuck in the FieldTurf at Mall of America Field and he rolled over his left ankle while trying to avoid Raiders free safety Michael Huff.

The Vikings visit the Falcons on Sunday. Even at 3-8, Frazier took the optimistic view that Peterson could still play at Atlanta. Peterson has missed only one game — last year’s lopsided Monday night loss to the Bears played outdoors at the University of Minnesota — since his rookie season in 2007.

“The good news is there’s nothing more than that,” Frazier added.

Peterson is sixth in the NFL with 872 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging 4.7 yards per carry.
