The Hutchinson School District is holding their truth in taxation public hearing last night and adopted their 2011-payable in 2012 budget and levy.
The levy comes in at about $4.8-million, which is a reduction over the current levy by about 9.6 percent.
Director of Business and Finance Donna Luhring was asked why some property taxes increased, if the levy is being reduced. Luhring explained that it was because of the change in the Homestead Credit by the state legislature.
The city of Hutchinson has their truth in taxation hearing tonight (Tuesday).
Overall, city officials are proposing a 1.5 percent increase over the current levy.
That meeting is being held this evening at 6, during the City Council’s regular meeting, which begins at 5:30, at the Hutchinson City Center on Hassan Street.
