The Minnesota State Amateur Baseball Tournament is undergoing some changes here in the offseason. The State Baseball board is adding 16 more teams around the state. The Northstar League’s Brian Larson says the state board looked at what regions of the state have leagues with good drawing power. The board will then assign a Region 3 or even 4 berths into the state tournament, based on fan participation. Larson said the Regions assignments haven’t been made yet, but the leagues know which ones will be assigned more teams. He says the Northstar League will likely be assigned 4 teams to the state tournament. Larson says one other change was made to the state tournament. The Class C Tournament will now be single elimination through all rounds of the tourney.
