Due to the ongoing dearth of snow in the Cokato area, officials say the 5th Annual Upper Midwest Model T & Model A Snowmobile Rally will be reduced in scope.
Originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, January 14-15, the event will now be one day only – Saturday, January 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Participants will still be able to bring their vehicles but they will not be able to run them in Peterson Park due to the conditions.
Instead, organizers are encouraging attendees to “show” their vehicles in the portion of Fourth Street West, immediately in front of the Cokato Museum. The street will be blocked off to accommodate vehicles and their trailers.
Organizers also are inviting anyone with vintage style snowmobiles (the early versions of modern snow machines) to join the show.
There is no charge for anyone to either bring their vehicles or machines to the show or for those who wish to view them. Refreshments will be available throughout the day in the museum for rally attendees.
Organizers say they regret that these steps had to be taken, but Mother Nature just was not cooperating this year.
