Sauk Rapids Woman Injured in Crash 12 Jan 12

A woman was seriously injured Wednesday morning when her vehicle went off the road and struck a tree near Little Rock Lake.

Deputies were called at 7:50 a.m. to the crash in Mayhew Lake Township.

Benton County Sheriff Brad Bennett said the vehicle was headed west when the driver lost control, slid into a ditch, and struck a large tree.

The driver was pinned inside the vehicle and responders had to pry the car door open to get to her.

The driver, a 48-year-old Sauk Rapids woman, was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

Her name is being withheld pending notification of family. There were no passengers.

At the time of the crash, the road was covered in ice and slush. The victim was not wearing a seat belt. Alcohol was not a factor.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting in the investigation. Sauk Rapids Fire Department and Gold Cross paramedics responded to the scene.
