North Star Baseball inducts 4 into HOF 08 Feb 12

Four players have been named to the North Star Baseball League’s Hall of Fame. The league announced that Delano pitcher Jeff Janzen, Maple Plain Pitcher Payton Polston, Loretto Hitter PJ Hanson, and Dassel Cokato catcher Jeff Neutzling were named to the 2012 Class of Hall of Famers.

Janzen played for the A’s for 21 seasons, winning the league’s Most Valuable pitcher award 3 times, and pitched in 16 state tournaments.

Polston was the long time ace of the Devil’s staff averaging over 60 innings a year in his 12 years on the team.

Hanson is a lifetime .400 hitter who won the league batting title 3 times, including the highest ever league average for a season at .667 in the 1989 season.


Neutzling is considered the best catcher to ever play in the North Star league. A lifetime .300 hitter that could work a pitching staff well. Played in 30 state tournaments in his career.
