A former St. Peter man accused of killing his infant son in 2010 has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
29-year-old Christopher Farris was sentenced in Nicollet County Court on Tuesday and received the maximum sentence possible after pleading guilty to 2nd-degree murder for the death of the 3-month-old boy.
Farris had initially claimed that the baby hit his head in a doorway, but later admitted to violently shaking the child for 10 minutes, attempting to force a pacifier into his mouth, and biting his cheek in an effort to revive him.
Investigators determined that the death was a homicide resulting from head trauma.
Farris will be eligible for parol in 10 years.
