Fire destroyed a rural Darwin home early Sunday morning.
No one was home at the time of the fire that occurred just before 4:30 Sunday morning at the home that was being rented by 61-year-old Luverne Kramer.
The house is located at 120 County State Aid Highway 24.
The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office says at the time of the call, which was reported by a motorist on U.S. Highway 12, it was unknown if anyone was in the house.
When deputies arrived at the scene, flames were coming out of the front window. Deputies broke several windows trying to see inside and yell for anyone who might have been inside, however, a short time later, Kramer arrived and said no one else was in the home.
Damage is estimated at $76,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
