The Eden Valley-Watkins School Board has selected the districts next superintendent.

The St. Cloud Times reports Mark Messman has been chosen to take over for Larry Peterson, who’s retiring June 30th after 11 years as superintendent.

Messman has been the elementary principal in Holdingford since 2005.

Messman has worked at Holdingford since 1991 and is the head football coach and former athletic director.

Messman will be paid $112,000 in 2012-13, $113,000 in 2013-2014 and $114,000 in 2014-2015. The total cost of the first year of the contract salary and benefits is $135,000.

Eden Valley-Watkins has more than 900 students. It will start a building project in April that will expand the elementary schools and add a gym to the high school. The elementary school is expected to be ready in September and the gym in January.
