Senate Minority Leader Tom Bakk says Kubly’s family told him the senator died Friday. The 68-year-old senator was diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, last year. He was hospitalized in St. Paul last week after suffering cardiac-like symptoms. Kubly was also a Lutheran minister who often led the senate in its opening prayer.
