Litchfield man has been sentenced to 48 months in prison, plus a five-year conditional release period, on a second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge for sexually molesting a young girl over a period of five years.
65-year-old Gerald Leander Garding’s sentence was handed down by District Judge Steven Drange in Meeker County District Court Wednesday. He was also ordered to pay a $50 fine.
The West Central Tribune reports as part of a plea agreement, five additional charges — three first-degree and two second-degree criminal sexual conduct counts — were dismissed.
The charges were filed after a now 16-year-old girl reported in September that Garding had sexually abused her on numerous occasions when she was between 5 and 9 years old.
Garding admitted to the molestation, all of which happened at a rural Litchfield home.
