The search is on for Junior Royalty candidates for the 2012 Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival. A girl and boy will be chosen as successors to the 2011 reigning royalty, Junior Queen Grace Schaalma and Junior Commodore Aiden Young.
The 70th annual celebration of the Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival runs from June 11th-17th. The Junior Royalty competition is open to girls and boys who will be between the ages of 7 and 9 years old the week of the Water Carnival, and must reside in the Hutchinson School District. Children who have won or been finalists are ineligible to interview a second time.
A registration form is available at Culver’s, Dairy Queen and www.watercarnival.org.
A nonreturnable photo taken within the last six months, preferably of the child alone, must accompany the registration form and needs to be turned in by Friday, June 1st.
Judging will take place Saturday, June 9th at the Christ the King Church, 1040 South Grade Rd, in Hutchinson. Royalty will be crowned at Library Square during ceremonies following the Kiddy Day Parade on Saturday, June 16th. The parade is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
The new Junior Royalty will attend parades throughout the area during the upcoming year. They will ride the Jaycee Water Carnival float, along with the 2012 Hutchinson Queen and Princess, while representing Hutchinson.
