Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 906 and American Legion Post 96 and their Auxiliaries will observe Memorial Day in Hutchinson with a parade and ceremony on Monday, May 30th.
Officials say the parade will leave the American Legion Post 96 at 9:30am and proceed north on Hassan Street to McLeod County Veterans Memorial Park. The program will begin at 10:00am. In case of inclement weather, officials say the program will be held in the auditorium at Park Elementary School.
Americans pay tribute on Memorial Day to those who fell in batle defending our country. The Memorial Day observance had its beginnings following the Civil War when Southerners marked the graves of those who died fighting for the Confederacy.
