Shimanski Running for County Commissioner 25 May 12

Shimanski Running for County CommissionerDistrict 18-A Republican State Representative Ron Shimanski of Silver Lake has announced he’s running and has filed for a commissioner’s spot on the McLeod County Board. Shimanski says he’s running for the District 1 position currently held by the retiring Commissioner Ray Bayerl.

Legislative redistricting paired Representative Shimanski with Republican Representative Glenn Gruenhagen when Sibley County was included in the new redistricting plan, now known as District 18-B, with Gruenhagen receiving the GOP endorsement.

Shimanski served three terms in the Minnesota House. Shimanski is a lifelong resident of Hale Township, farmer and owner of Shimanski Orchard.

Eugene (Gene) Feltmann of Lester Prairie and Nathan Schmalz of Lester Prairie have also filed for the District 1 commissioner position.
