KDUZ/KARP names 3 more inductees into Sports HOF 21 Jun 12

This years inductees into the KDUZ/KARP Sports Hall of Fame come from basketball and baseball. The three inductees include: Hutchinson ballpark groundskeeper and former baseball standout David Mooney, North Star Baseball League Officer, Historian, and radio show host Brian Larson of Dassel Cokato, and former EVW Hoops standout Janice Streit.

Mooney is best known for being the current groundskeeper for Veterans Memorial Field in Hutchinson. Other past work has seen him start the Rec Ball program in the 60’s, coaching Legion and High School Baseball, and helped Amateur teams to the state tournament in his playing days.

Larson has been involved in Baseball since High School in the Dassel Cokato area. He’s served 39 years in the North Star Baseball league as official scorer, statistician, and historian, as well as other various offices in the North Star League and the State. Larson also currently co-hosts the Around the Horn baseball show on KDUZ Saturday mornings.

Streit finished her career with Eden Valley Watkins as one of the top girls ball players ever in the state. She finished her career with over 2,000 points, and 1,600 rebounds. She helped the eagles to two state tournament appearances including one state runner up finish. Streit also was a 3 year all conference performer in Volleyball, and 2 year all conference in softball.

The trio will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, Saturday July 7th on a special edition of the Area Sports Roundup on KDUZ. All three inductees will be participating in the ceremonies and will be interviewed during the show, starting around 10:10 am that morning.
