Officials with Meeker Co-op Power say they have restored power to more than 85 percent of the roughly 2500 members who lost power during the June 17th storm.
Crews from McLeod Co-op Power in Glencoe and Runestone Electric Cooperative in Alexandria gave aid to the restoration efforts. In addition, crews from Highline Construction and Minnesota Valley Tree Service have also been hard at work clearing trees and rebuilding distribution poles and lines. Officials say it’s been a true cooperative effort to get things back online as soon as possible.
Meeker Cooperative sustained major damage to an area of their system just north of Atwater continuing east towards Grove City. Roughly 40 poles were broken off and there were downed trees everywhere. Meeker Co-op had major power outages in Rosendale, Cosmos and Paynesville and scattered outage calls throughout the remainder of the power system.
Officials say if everything goes according to plan, they expected to have everyone’s power back on by late last evening (Tuesday).
