State Holstein Shows in Hutchinson 21 Jun 12

The Minnesota Holstein Association State Holstein Show, the Minnesota Junior Holstein State Show and the Minnesota State Red and White Show will be held June 21-23, at the McLeod County Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Minn.

The 2012 State Holstein Show hosts are members of the McLeod County Holstein Association.

The week began with animals arriving on the grounds Monday and Tuesday to start their preparations for the shows at the end of the week. Approximately 325 head of registered cattle are scheduled to compete among the three shows.

The shows begin on Thursday, June 21, with the Minnesota State Red and White Show at 9:30 a.m. Serving as judge of the show will be Chad Ryan of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. Judge Ryan has traveled to numerous shows and sales around the country, enjoying the vast opportunities presented to him. Ryan-Vu is the prefix his family operates under and currently, has a BAA of 112.0. At 4:00 p.m., following the show, a meal sponsored by the Minnesota Red and White Club will take place for all exhibitors interested in good food and fellowship.

On Friday, June 22, 2012, youth up to age 21 are welcome to exhibit and become a member by paying annual dues of $5.00. Chad Ryan will again be judging the youth show. Immediately following the Minnesota Junior Holstein Show, an Ag Olympics competition will be held for all youth. Ag Olympics is a fun activity that involves various ag related relays and is hosted by the Minnesota Holstein Association Junior board members. Sponsored by Form-A-Feed, the McLeod Holstein Club will be providing a meal at 6:00 p.m. for all exhibitors that evening. One can be sure to never go hungry at Holstein functions!

The shows continue on Friday, July 17, at 8:00 a.m. with the Minnesota State Holstein Show. Callum McKinvin of Quebec, Canada, will judge 26 classes of registered Holsteins. Judge McKinvin and his family own and operate Lookout Holsteins and Jerseys. In addition to owning All American and All Canadian animals, McKinvin has judged in 28 different countries for more than 25 years. The Golden Gopher Futurity Show will be held at 11:00 a.m. during the open show.     just to let you know that there are red and white holsteins too. These holsteins don’t have to be black and white.
