Twins Place Plouffe on DL, Will Recall Valencia 28 Jul 12

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed infielder Trevor Plouffe on the 15-day disabled list with a bruised right thumb. The move is retroactive to July 21, as Plouffe was removed from last Friday’s game at Kansas City with the injury.

To replace Plouffe on the 25-man roster, the Twins will recall third baseman Danny Valencia from Triple-A Rochester.  Valencia, who started the season with the Twins, was optioned to Rochester on May 9 and appeared 69 games for the Red Wings, hitting .250 (67-for-268) with seven home runs and 37 rbi.  Valencia will be in uniform tomorrow night vs. the Cleveland Indians.
