82-year-old Delbert Huber of rural Paynesville pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Friday in the death of Tim Larson of Albertville.
The 43-year-old Larson, a special education teacher in the St. Michael-Albertville School District, was shot to death on his father’s farm in Burbank Township near Belgrade October 8th.
Delbert Huber and his 46-year-old son Timothy Huber were both charged in the shooting, although Delbert did the shooting.
Timothy Huber is still awaiting trial on a first-degree murder charge.
In a plea agreement reached Friday, the first-degree indictment against Delbert Huber was dismissed as a condition of his pleading guilty to second-degree murder.
Delbert was set to go to trial next month, but still had not hired an attorney.
Larson told the Hubers to stay off of his father’s property on the weekend of October 8th and 9th, but the Hubers said they had been hired to take care of animals on the property. When Larson found the Hubers on the farm on the morning of the 8th, they argued and Delbert Huber shot Larson. They left the body for most of the day, and reported the death to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Department.
