A Hutchinson man has been charged with assault after an incident early Sunday morning during a celebration at the McLeod County Fairgrounds.
22-year-old Josue Diaz-Carbajal is charged with 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
Police say they received a report at 12:44 am of a possible stabbing near the cattle barn at the fairgrounds.
On arrival, officers were informed that the victim, a 28-year-old Litchfield man, went to the emergency room at Hutchinson Area Health Care for treatment of cuts to the head, shoulder, and back. The injuries were allegedly caused by a broken beer bottle.
Based on information from witnesses, the suspect vehicle was located in Glencoe about 2 hours later. Four people in the vehicle were arrested and questioned, but only Diaz-Carbajal was charged.
