The Minnesota Garlic Festival takes place on Saturday (today) at the McLeod County Fairgrounds in Hutchinson. Events are taking place in the Agribition Building and the Commercial Building. Plus many vendors will be set up outdoors. The garlic toss will open the festival, which is similar to the opening pitch in a baseball game. There will be garlic vendors, a wine and beer event, kite building,a fashion show, and garlic growing contest. Some of the other events at this year’s Garlic Festival will be music by the Roe Family Singers, The Light of the Moon Band, flamenco dancers and other entertainment.
The Minnesota Garlic Festival is sponsored by the Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota. Money raised through the festival is used to fund education programming for farmers and consumers.Tickets are 5 dollars for adults and 3 dollars for children under 12 years of age. Babies are free. Gates open at 10 AM with the event running till 6 PM. Last year approximately 3500 people attending the Festival.
