  • ·    The Tigers six hits tonight marked their fewest ever in Target Field (22 games)…they  entered tonight’s game averaging 11 hits per game in 21 games in Target Field, including double digit hit totals in 11 of their last 13 games.
  • ·    The Tigers lost their first series opener in Minnesota since August 31, 2010.
  • ·    Tigers pitchers have allowed 18 hits twice in their last six games, with other being Wednesday vs. New York (AL)…game was also started by Sanchez.
  • ·    Anibal Sanchez set a season-high with 12 hits allowed, his most since April 10, 2011 at Houston (with Miami), when he allowed 13…Sanchez is now 1-3, 7.97 (20.1 ip, 18 er) with opponents batting .380 (35-for-92) in four starts since joining the Tigers.
  • ·    Jhonny Peralta went 1-for-2 with two walks…he has reached base via hit or walk in 18 of 21 career games in Target Field…he is a career .346 (27-for-78) hitter with 17 rbi in Target Field…his 27 career hits are fifth-most in Target Field history for opposing players.

TWINS NOTES: ­

  • ·    The Twins snapped their four game losing streak…they snapped their five-game losing streak at Target Field, recording their first win at home this month.
  • ·    The 18 hits for the Twins were their most since July 16 vs. Baltimore…the two home runs tonight gave them 104, passing their 2011 total of 103…additionally, there have now been 126 home runs hit by both the Twins and their opponents in Target Field this season, matching 2011.
  • ·    Samuel Deduno tied his career-highs with innings pitched (7.0) and strikeouts (six)…he is 4-0, 2.67 (30.1 ip, 9 er) in his last five starts.
  • ·    Ryan Doumit (3-for-4) has hit safely in 35 of his last 45 games, batting .339 (57-for-168) in that span…Doumit recorded his 100th hit of the season in the sixth inning, giving the Twins five different players with 100 hits…Morneau is at 99.
  • ·    Doumit hit his 14th home run of the season and is now within just one of matching his single-season career-high of 15, done in 2008 with Pittsburgh…Doumit now has nine extra-base hits in 11 games this month.
  • ·    Darin Mastroianni’s first inning stolen base was the 93rd for the Twins this season, passing their 2011 total of 92…Mauer’s seventh inning steal was their 94th…the Twins entered today tied for second in the American League in steals with the Angels at 92.
  • ·    Mastroianni tied his career-high in hits (three) and rbi (three).
  • ·    Ben Revere was caught stealing (fifth inning) for the first time since July 7 at Texas, snapping his consecutive stolen bases streak at 11.
  • ·    The Twins turned one more double play tonight, extending their streak to eight straight games (19 in that span)…their season-long is 10 straight with a double play, April 29-May 9.
