The McLeod County Talent Contest took place Sunday, August 19th at the Fairgrounds in Hutchinson.
The competitors showed off their skills before an audience and three judges as they tried to win prizes and a trip to the Minnesota State Fair.
In the Preteen Category the third place winner was Maggie Mernick with her vocal solo “Mercy”. Second place went to Allyson Kopesky and Annie Landreville dancing to “You Can’t Stop the Beat”. Our first place winner, Gianna Arthur from Watertown, sang “Popular” and is representing another county at the State Fair.
Offiicals say the competition in the Teen Category was fierce with 11 competitors. Aleah Tucker’s original song “Sailing Against the Wind” won third place. Marley Sanderson won second with her vocal solo “A Mess It Grows”. The winner of the Teen division was also from Hutchinson, Ty Rogers, playing a Tenor Drum Solo. Ty will be at another competition during the State Fair so McLeod County will be represented by Sanderson.
The Open Category is open to any and all ages. Danielle Enberg and Brittany Rau won third place tapping to “Salute To The Troops”. Gabrielle Arthur won second place with her vocal solo “The Prayer”. Vitaliy Neyfeld and Amy Pung wowed the audience singing “The Prayer” and took the coveted first place in the Open division. Neyfeld and Pung will be representing McLeod County at the Minnesota State Fair.
Judges for the Show were Mike Martin, Courtney Hoversten and Kathy Hannemann. Jim Fahey emceed and Larry Dostal and Dostal Electronics provided the sound.
