MARINERS NOTES:

  • ·    The Mariners extended their winning streak against the Twins to seven, improving to 7-1 against them on the season.
  • ·    The Mariners have won 10 of their last 13 games.
  • ·    Hisashi Iwakuma improved to 3-0, 1.40 (25.2 ip, 4 er) in his last four starts…he allowed just one hit but walked a career/season-high with four batters.
  • ·    Iwakuma is 4-2, 2.72 (59.2 ip, 18 er) in 10 starts since moving to the rotation, July 2.
  • ·    Mariners starters are 19-8, 2.74 (249.1 ip, 76 er) with 25 quality starts in their last 37 games.
  • ·    Brendan Ryan recorded his 16th and 17th doubles of the season and 91st and 92nd of his career…he needs two doubles to reach his single-season career-high of 19, done three times previously, in 2009, 2010 and 2011…he tied his season-high with three hits (twice against Minnesota).

TWINS NOTES: ­

  • ·    The Twins fell to 10-26 against the American League West this season.
  • ·    The third inning run marked the Twins first since the sixth inning, August 26 at Texas, snapping a 14-scoreless inning streak.
  • ·    The Twins went homerless for the 10th time in their last 11 games, hitting just one homer in that span (Morneau, August 25 at Texas).
  • ·    The Twins have been out-scored 47-19 in their last eight games.
  • ·    Scott Diamond has pitched 5.0-plus innings in 21 of his last 22 starts, dating back to 2011…Diamond was dealt his first loss since August 1 vs. Chicago (AL).
  • ·    Jamey Carroll recorded one hit tonight giving him 98 for the season…he is just two hits away from reaching 100 hits for the fourth time in his career and third consecutive season…he would be the seventh Twin with 100 hits this season.
  • ·    Justin Morneau (1-for-4) is batting .323 (63-for-195) in his last 49 games.
  • ·    13 of Alex Burnett’s last 15 appearances have been scoreless…he has posted a 1.93 ERA (14.0  ip, 3 er) in that span.
