Cosmos Man Death Investigation 01 Sep 12

The Renville County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal of Apprehension, is seeking information about the disappearance and death of a Cosmos man.

Authorities say in early September of 2011, Robert Verdon left his home in Cosmos to visit an acquaintance in a neighboring city.  Verdon never made it to the residence, causing family and friends to become concerned.

The following day, the Renville County Sheriff’s Office recovered Verdon’s vehicle in rural Renville County.  At the time of the recovery, Verdon could not be located.  In the days following Verdon’s disappearance, Verdon’s family filed a missing person’s report with law enforcement.

In October 2011, Verdon’s body was found in a cornfield in Brookfield Township, southeast of Cosmos, MN.

Renville County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward to anyone with information related to the circumstances surrounding Verdon’s disappearance and death.  Information can be reported to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office by calling (320) 523-1161; or reported anonymously by calling Renville County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-720-3780, or by clicking on the “Report A Crime” link at the Renville County Sheriff’s Office web site, http://www.co.renville.mn.us/sheriff.
