Winthrop Man Charged in Corn Theft 07 Sep 12

A Winthrop man has been charged with felony theft for allegedly stealing over $13,000 worth of corn. 35-year-old Kyle Norman Grams is accused of selling his employer’s corn to United Grain Systems in Winthrop under his own name on 2 different occasions.

In March he allegedly sold 919 bushels for over $5,700, and in July he reportedly received more than $7,500 for 957 bushels.

That money was withheld from him due to the suspicious nature of the transaction, and Grams later admitted to taking the corn unlawfully because of his financial situation.

If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.

His next court appearance is scheduled for October 4th.
