Fire destroyed over a half-million-dollars in farm equipment in Meeker County early Tuesday morning.
The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office says at 3:30 a.m. they received a call reporting a fire half a mile west of Highway 22 on 180th Avenue in Greenleaf Township.
KWLM reports that when authorities arrived, they found a Case combine with stalk chopping corn head, Caterpillar tractor, and a grain cart engulfed in flames.
The machinery is owned by 52-year-old Douglas Johnson of Litchfield and was a total loss, valued at over $600,000.
The Litchfield Fire Department put out the fire before it reached the unharvested corn.
