Minnesota has its eighth case of fungal meningitis linked to contaminated steroids.
Minnesota Department of Health officials say the latest reported case is a man in his 60′s from the Twin Cities.
Assistant State Epidemiologist, Doctor Richard Danila, says the Health Department just found out about the case Thursday, but the patient was diagnosed about two weeks ago. Danila says he’s not sure why the delay but the man is now receiving treatment. Health Department officials say they don’t have information on his condition.
Nationwide, 24 deaths have been linked to contaminated steroids produced by New England Compounding Center in Massachusetts.
