South St. Cloud Fatal Fire 26 Nov 12

Investigators are back at the scene today (Monday) of a deadly house fire that occurred in South St. Cloud over the weekend.

St. Cloud Fire Chief Bill Mund says the State Fire Marshal, as well as St. Cloud Police and Fire investigators are still looking to determine the cause of the fire.

WJON reports the fire at 520 8th Avenue South started at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday. One man was killed and another was injured. Two other men lived at the rental home, but were not there at the time. Rhonda Lyon’s son Jordan is one of the two men who were not there. She says it’s been a shocking blow for them. She says everything has been destroyed.

Lyon says all four young men have been friends from high school, and are all from small towns in southern Minnesota (Franklin, Fairfax, and Comfrey). Two of them were students at St. Cloud State University. The name of the man who was killed has not officially been released yet, he was not an SCSU student.

Chief Mund says he’s expecting more information to be released this afternoon.
