The Minnesota Football Coaches Association has honored 5 area teams and 5 individuals for their academic achievements. The Assocation gave out Gold Academic team awards to BOLD, Litchfield, Glencoe Silver Lake, and Dassel Cokato…plus they gave a Silver Academic team award to GFW. To earn a gold award a team must have a cumulative GPA over 3.0, while a silver award is for those schools over a 2.75 GPA. Individually 5 area players were named to the Academic All State team. They include: Cole Mertens of BOLD, Nathan King of Litchfield, Mitch Petersen of Hutchinson, Andrew Madson of Dassel Cokato, and Reed Dunbar of Glencoe Silver Lake. Individuals are named to the Academic All State team if they have a GPA over 3.0, be a starter on his team, and have outstanding leadership qualities with no high school league infractions or penalties.
