A North Carolina girl died Thursday after a sledding accident while visiting her grandparents in Dassel Township.

According to Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin, The ten-year-old was sledding down a hill with other children when her sled hit a raised stump and was ejected from the sled.

The children were under adult supervision.

The Meeker County Sheriffs department was called to the Craig and Barbara Kay residence around 3:33pm in response to the accident. The girl was transported by ambulance to the Meeker Memorial Hospital where she later died from her injuries.
