Minnesota native Lindsey Vonn is hospitalized after injuring her knee in a serious ski crash Tuesday at the 2013 World Championships in Austria.
John Meyer of the Denver Post says Vonn’s right leg buckled when she came over a slope, causing her to fall head-first into the snow and crash into a gate.
Meyer says Vonn will have knee construction and then have to go through a very difficult rehab. He says the clock starts ticking right now for Vonn to defend her gold medal in the downhill at the 2014 Olympics in Russia. Meyer also says Vonn will be out for the rest of this World Cup season.
Vonn grew up learning to ski at Buck Hill in Burnsville, Minnesota, before moving to Colorado to train for the World Cup and Olympics.
