Elizabeth VanDerBill, a familiar face to many in the Willmar area, has been named Ridgewater College’s new Director of Communications and Marketing. She began her duties on Monday.
VanDerBill replaces Sam Bowen, who had been the director since 2004. In January, however, he became the new Ridgewater Dean of Customized Training and Continuing Education.
“I’m very excited to have Liz join the Ridgewater College team,” said Ridgewater President Douglas Allen. “As a graduate of Ridgewater College, she not only knows the college, but she’s also a passionate supporter of our mission and our students. As a longtime resident of the area, and a member of the Willmar School Board, she’s also familiar with the communities that we serve and the needs of our future students. Couple all that with her marketing and planning experience, and I believe we have someone that not only knows our story but will be able to tell it well.”
VanDerBill shared her enthusiasm about the change as well. “I look forward to returning to my alma mater where I received a strong foundation for my college education,” said VanDerBill. She is a graduate of both Willmar Public Schools and Ridgewater College. After earning her Associate of Arts degree in Willmar, VanDerBill went on to complete her Bachelor’s degree in psychology and business minor at Concordia College in Moorhead.
Following her college graduation, VanDerBill worked for Target Corporation as a store manager for six years. When she returned to Willmar, she worked for the Willmar Area Lakes Chamber of Commerce as the Director of Member Services. Most recently, VanDerBill served as the Director of Marketing at Christianson and Associates and at Prinsco prior to that.
VanDerBill also currently serves on the board for the United Way of West Central Minnesota.
“I am excited to be working to promote Ridgewater and our programs to future graduates,” VanDerBill said.
