Officials with New Prague Public Schools say students returned to classes Thursday after a bomb threat triggered the evacuation of two buildings Thursday morning.
The New Prague Area Schools posted a message on the district website alerting parents that authorities received notice of a bomb threat in the Middle School and the CEC building.
Reports say staff received an email around 8:30 a.m., with a subject line that read “read or die.” The email stated there were bombs around the school and would blow up in 30 minutes.
Authorities believe the email was not from a student, but rather from an “automatic” email generated from overseas.
All Middle School students were evacuated to the Ice Arena. Police searched the facility, found nothing, and gave the all-clear shortly before 10 a.m.
The bomb threat came one day after police say a student carried out a hoax involving a reported school shooting. A 12-year-old boy was arrested as a suspect in the hoax.
