Four men are in the Kandiyohi County Jail on charges of second-degree assault and liability for crimes of another for their roles in an early morning stabbing incident Saturday that began as an argument over a soccer game.
The West Central Tribune reports Willmar Police Chief David Wyffels saying, three of the men are also detained by the federal Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement — a 20-year-old, a 21-year-old and a 31-year-old, all from Willmar.
The fourth man held in the stabbing is a 31-year-old from Willmar.
The victim was a 23-year-old Hispanic male who had multiple stab wounds. Officers arrived to find the four men at the scene and used a stun gun to subdue one of the men, who was still holding a knife and refusing to put down the weapon.
A witness to the stabbing told investigators that the incident started as an argument, leading to the fight at a club in Willmar and the stabbing at an apartment complex, over a soccer game earlier in the day.
