More than 120 soldiers from the 257th Military Police Company are scheduled to return Thursday to Minnesota after a year-long deployment to Afghanistan.
“I am extremely proud of these soldiers and it’s an especially good feeling that everyone is home safe on U.S. soil,” said Army Capt. Troy M. Hyland, 257th Military Police Company Commander.
“We were successful in our partnership with the Afghan National Army, said Hyland. “We spent a lot of time coaching, teaching and mentoring them and it was obvious that we had a good working relationship upon leaving. The emotions displayed by some when we left were truly heartfelt.”
The initial reunion with families will be Thursday afternoon at the Monticello Armory, 505 Walnut St., Monticello, Minn.
