Hutchinson Police are investigating a theft last month (March) in which a suspect is believed to have switched a price tag from an inexpensive generator and placed it on an expensive one, to get a better price.
Police say an employee of Runnings on Highway 15 south reported that a Caucasian man purchased a $4,000 generator after swapping the tag with a $257 generator. Employees became aware of the scheme after being alerted that a similar incident had occurred at the Litchfield Runnings.
Authorities believe the suspect was driving a “jacked-up” Dodge Crew Cab pickup.
The investigation continues.
