On Monday night, at about 11:30, the Olivia Police Department, Fire Department and Ambulance responded to the 700 block of Hickory Ave in Olivia on a report of a mobile home on fire. Upon arrival responding units found flames coming out of the roof of a mobile home with heavy smoke blowing across the road.
The residents were not home at the time, however, a family pet was later found deceased inside the residence. The residence is considered to be a total loss. Two residents were displaced and have been assisted by the American Red Cross.
The State Fire Marshall was asked to respond to the scene. The preliminary investigation of the fire scene has determined that the fire was suspicious and is considered to be arson. The Olivia Fire Department, Olivia Police Department and the State Fire Marshall are investigating this incident.
