RANGERS NOTES:

·    The Rangers improved to 7-1 in their last eight games…they are now 9-5 on the road this season.

·    Justin Grimm improved to 2-0, 1.59 (17.0 IP, 3 ER) in three starts this season…he has allowed just one earned run and walked one in his last 15.0 innings pitched.

·    Elvis Andrus recorded his third double of the season – all coming in his last three games…it was the 93rd of his career, he now needs seven to reach 100.

·    Lance Berkman (2-for-4) has hit safely in 15 of 19 games played and reached safely in 17 of 19…with one RBI tonight, he has now recorded 15 RBI on the season and at least one RBI in eight of 19 games.

·    Nelson Cruz has an RBI in six straight games (13 in that span), matching the longest RBI streak in baseball this season, previously done by Cincinnati’s Todd Frazier April 3-8 and Detroit’s Prince Fielder April 9-14.

·    Adrian Beltre hit his fourth home run of the season, his first off a left-hander…he is hitting .392 (29-for-74) in his last 18 games against the Twins and has four home runs in his last eight games off Twins pitching…the home run marked the 350th of his career.

·    The Rangers have hit 15 home runs in their last 10 games…they have homered in 16 of 23 games played.

·    The Rangers had seven extra-base hits tonight (six doubles, one home run), their most in a game since September 27, 2012 vs. Oakland (also seven)…their six doubles were the most since August 19, 2012 vs. Toronto, when they also had seven.

·    Tanner Scheppers has not allowed a run in 11 appearances (11.2 IP)…he has posted an ERA of 1.21 (22.1 IP, 3 ER) in his last 25 games, dating back to August 18, 2012.

 

TWINS NOTES: ­

·    The Twins lost just their second one-run game this season and their second in-a-row (5-2)…15 of the Twins 19 games have been decided by three runs-or-less.

·    The Twins allowed the opponent to score the game’s first run in 15 of 19 games this season…opponents have scored 23 first inning runs off the Twins in 2013.

·    Scott Diamond has issued just two walks in 16.2 innings pitched this season…the 12 hits allowed tonight set a single game career-high, passing his previous high of 10, done four times previously…he has posted an ERA of 3.25 (36.0 IP, 13 ER) in his last six starts, dating back to September 23, 2012.

·    The first inning stolen base by Elvis Andrus was just the fourth stolen off Twins catchers/pitchers all season…they entered today with a MLB-low three steals allowed, in front of Texas (4).

·    Pedro Florimon (1-for-3) has reached base safely in 11 of 14 games this season.

·    Twins defense has turned a double play in eight straight games (since April 15) and in 15 of 19 games this season…they now have a total of 21 double plays on the season.

·    Aaron Hicks (1-for-3) has hit in each of his last three and in four of his last five games…he has reached base safely in eight straight since April 15, posting an on-base percentage of .444 in that span.

·    Twins batters did not walk in a game for the first time since September 22, 2012 at Detroit…they entered today fifth in the AL with 72 walks.

·    Oswaldo Arcia hit his second career home run – both three run shots…it was the Twins first ninth inning homer all season (13 in 2012)…it was the first ninth inning homer for the Twins that drove in at least three runs since Josh Willingham’s walk-off home run May 29, 2012 vs. Oakland (off Fuentes).
