The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources – Forestry Division has recommended to the McLeod County Sheriff to issue burning restrictions effective immediately through Tuesday May 14th.
Wildfires could become fast moving in a short period of time due to the strong winds, low humidity, and dry fuels.
Recreational fires are still allowed as long as they have a 10′ clearance around them.
Officials say as always, make sure you burn with extreme caution.
There will be no new burning permits issued until the burning restrictions are lifted. Any permits that were previously issued are considered to be void until the restrictions are lifted. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the McLeod County Sheriffs Office will be enforcing statutes and regulations for those people who
violate the burning statutes and/or regulations.
