A 31-year-old Calloway man was eventually arrested after a police chase Monday afternoon in Meeker County.
At just after noon yesterday, the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Minnesota State Patrol with pursuit of a motor vehicle driven by Jonathan Daniel Moore entering Meeker County eastbound on Highway 55 from Paynesville. Stops sticks were put on Highway 55 near Eden Valley for the approaching vehicle. Authorities say Moore was able to get through town before the stop sticks were deployed. The pursuit continued southbound on 642nd Avenue and then onto Highway 34 southbound in Meeker County. A deployment of Stop Sticks was attempted by officers on Highway 34, near MN Highway 24, unsuccessfully due to the Moore’s speed and maneuvering.
Moore then turned eastbound onto MN Highway 24, and continued to the Forest City area. The vehicle attempted to turn onto a gravel road just outside of Forest City onto 315th Street, and lost control of the vehicle and went into the ditch. A State Trooper was able to block the vehicle from getting out of the ditch by using his squad car. Moore was then taken into custody without further incident.
Moore was booked into the Meeker County Jail on charges of Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, No Proof of Insurance, and Driving after Revocation.
Moore also had an active felony warrant out of Becker County for harboring an escaped fugitive and aiding an offender to avoid arrest.
